The collection now comes together. literally

Now all semester we collected thes objects that we each decided on, I chose rust, or character based metals. Then we had to forge them into something that would make a political statment. Im making cubes! the represent an obsticle, an obaticle to over come, like something in your way from completing your dream, or keeping you from getting a job, or ever hoping to leave crafton again. Now hear is the formation of this cube/factor piece. Im proude of this I THINK???

After weeks, the Final Apple piece.

As I spent 30 to 40 minutes carving each of these and contemplated what will it form? Yes a decaying spinal cord but in what direction? Will it be appreciated? Well I feel it paid off and is most suitable express the need of tension.
Now if your done with the malarcey, you should lean in and scratch your screen because this blog is brought to you in SMELL-O-VISION! You will actualy smell and almost taste decaying, rotting, lacker covered apples! . . . did you try it? You know you want to.

and please no jokes, I know how they look

A good start Ithought on the apples, but I was told to do more, and you know I agree. I did slave away as much as I could but you won't believe it, my dog . . . all 100 lbs of her, EAT my rotting apples!!! Yes I was angrey, but I do not believe in violence so I punished her by making her watch a Miley Cirus music video. The dog cried for hours. (that's a bad singing joke.)

NOW, the apples . . .

Though I have had reservations on this project, I decided to jump forward into the TENSION as it would be and I am sculpting a spinal cord out of just the cores of the appl to show them decay, example of a struggle for life and youth.

now at this location in down town Redlands at a fountine. . . hours and hours went by . . . and no one came by. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!?

And the performance begins

At three seperat locations I had my prstetic limb on to show of an have questions asked. At one location I went to the moutians in a small town, I then deminstrated my superrior mechanical strength by pulling a wagon. As you can imaine and see it didnt go so well. The wagon was stuck in the ground. Laughter ensued.

All these items were part of the arm an the hand. The contraption actually broke at the elbow so I adjusted the item to attach to my leg to still act as a prostetic like I originally planed.

Ok, crap. Second attempt is better.

Ya it took a few trys BUT I eventually built a hand out of thick tubed material. pull on the wier and each finger moves . . . kinda.

Performance art . . .or pile of crap???

I opted to make a roboticish giant hand out of what ever materials I could smugle out of this old factory That my boss told me was empty . . . He lied. The people let me take lots of cool stuff though. As you cansee I started to make the hands out of old hydralic hoses and copper wier.

Ooo! Piece a candy . . . wait a minute!?

so ya its agoat. and a ball hitch. Also two giant m&ms! noooo, tey are metal painted cadillac symbols. All of these wounderful items came out of a $200 truck my dad bought earlier this year. The detail in the Rams head, the attention to details, its art all in itself . . . will probaly og on the hood of my toyota.
This ball hitch Im sure has towed a many a story accross this great state of ours, family picnics and camping trips in a tear drop trailer.
these hub caps? I hope some old man or kid with a low rider didn't loose them? Cause Im not
giving them back . . . . In The words of Scruff the Homless guy "It's scruffies stuff now."
This colection project is going an interesting, soon I will be taking a trip to a local creek to see what I can fish out.

more metal junk! WEEEEEEEE!!!

Now this is a cool piece that I have found here. It's a metal casing of a 1950's matchbox car! and it says made in the U.S.A.! How cool is that. I found this when I went with my grand father to help clean out a friend of his' garage/shake in back yard. I picked it up and aske where it came from, he said it was a broken toy from one of his kids and showed me the original box it came in and sid he was going to fix it but never got to it. (better late than never I guess?) He then gave it to me stating take it if you can do something with it. so i have a piece of a kids childhood that his father never put back together. . . . Wonder what I'll do with that?

We have started a long term project, which the end rsulte is yet to be revialed, where we collect 3 objects a week for ten weeks. I being the overly enthusiastic, over thinker that I am has choosen metal. They will be old metal objects, but not ordinary, old rusted and full of histry. So if I pick up a paper clip it's because it's the paper clip some rebeliou nazi soldier coated with poision to assassinate hitler! or was originally holding together the deed papers to what eventualy became a haunted mansion. (Getting the idea? Good.)

To the left is the discustingly coated nickle plated 1991 quarter that laid in the street stairing me down with inspiration for this project.

I assume that this coin has had a terific, Ill be it, short existance. I wounder what would the eagle on the back cough up if it could squack, or what the image George wasington would have to say if he could talk. Plus how long was this quarter pased upp to make it look this old and degraded and who passess up a quarter!? That's good money man! Almost can get a sam's club soda for that.

So each item I find I will tell where I found it, how I found it and what story I believe it has. So look out fo . . . entertaining boardium?

Starting off here is part one of a three part assignment taken from the web page, http://www.learningtoloveyoumore.com/, it was an assignment to recreate an object from some ones past. The item had to be made out of nothing but none colored cardboard and tape.

I used mostly thin rolled cardboard that was storage rap, and then to create the rim and bottom tore a shipping box down the center. A little rolling and circle cuts on the papper and LOTS of tape and boom! a 3D memory.
Then in the other photo you see me doing another assignment which was protesting. The art of protesting if you will, and it had to be about something you really care about not a fake protest. Now I was in the city of Redlands protesting the government probing to deep into our personal life and individual rights. . . . Now protesting in the rain at a flooded college, by my self , was less than effective . . . .

Pleasent beginings

This blog has been created to document the tireless journy of creation and understanding of what truly makes art . . . Also it's a main requirement for my SCULPTING class . . . I can only hope these documents and photos will shed a little light on the orginzed chaos I call my brain, while allowing you to feel inspired as well.

Note: I am incredible computer inefficent and have poor spelling skills, only a few mistakes will be on purpose, I swear.
